With Wycombe only winning one of their last 17, 3 points was exactly what Gareth Ainsworth's side needed. So a match against second bottom Sheffield Wednesday was probably their best shot.
After Puli's sack back in late December, the Owls have won five of their last seven league games under temporary manager Neil Thompson. So it was no shock when they started the stronger side and maintained the majority of the possession.
The pressure finally paid off for Thompson's team, after a goal from Jordan Rhodes gave them the lead in the 34th minute. Kadeem Harris' perfectly weighted cross fell kindly to Rhodes who tucked it away with a clever header.
Both teams kept it close in the second half, with neither giving the two keepers much to worry about. That was until Adam Reach's 25 yard strike took a wicked deflection, wrong footing Ryan Allsop to double the owls lead.
With another loss for Gareth Ainsworth's side, survival is looking very unlikely, Neil Thompson's team are the opposite, however. This win means they're finally out of the bottom three on goal difference, moving one place above Derby.
