Going into the game Brentford looked like the favourites with them winning 8 out of their 11 matches in all competitions, their only loss being a 3-1 defeat to champions league chasing Leicester.
Brentford's good form seemed tested early on as Zak Vyner put boys in red 1-0 up after heading home Jack Hunt's freekick with only 3 minutes on the clock.
Bretford seemed unfazed by Vyner's shock opener with Sergio Canos going close twice and Ethan Pinnock heading just wide.
Fortunately it didn't take long for the bees to level, with Canos being the man to do so in the 27th minute. The ball fell kindly after Tariqe Fosu's shot was parried by Bristol keeper Daniel Bentley and a mistake from Alfie Mawson in the process proved costly.
Both teams were level at half time with Dean Holden being the happier manager.
However those smiles where short lived after the man in form, Ivan Toney, put away Fosu's cross giving them the lead for the first time in the match, after their continuous pressure on Bristol's 'shaky' defence. Toney's goal now puts him on 20 for the season.
The pressure continued for Thomas Frank's team as Fosu's powerful run abled him to play the ball through The Robins backline and Saman Ghoddos doubled their lead in the 65th minute. His initial shot fired off the woodwork but he made no mistake in making it 3 as the rebound fell nicely to him.
Time was ticking now for Bristol to rescue even a point from this game and in the 90th minute Nahiki Wells took the ball round Brentford keeper David Reyna to score Bristol's second of the match. However it was too little too late for Dean Holden's Robins as they suffer their second successive loss.
The inform Bees team seem in good form coming up against Warnock's dangerous new Middlesbrough side at the weekend as this win puts them second in the table only a point in front of Swansea.
