With both teams being at the bottom of the table this game was a must win for the two sides. Defensively Derby looked the better team with Rooney's rein only conceding one goal in their past five away games.

Rotherham are still fresh from a 3-1 thumping from Swansea on Saturday so tensions were still high, and The Rams seemed confident going into this game after their 1-0 win over Bristol at the weekend.

This match was supposed to be played last night but was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch so was quickly re-arranged for a playable game tonight.

The first half seemed to be uneventful for both teams as it finished 0-0 with Derby having the better chances and seemingly a better start over The Millers with Martyn Waghorn proving to be a problem for Rotherham's back line.

The second half saw a better Rotherham team come out as they applied the pressure, however breaking through the Derby's solid defence posed a bigger task for Warne's side than initially intended.

However the match deadlock broke in the 76th minute for Rotherham with Michael Ihiekwe squeezing it past Scotland International David Marshall. A diagonal ball into the box nodded on by Michael Smith saw the Rams defence fall apart and lose their shape.

After the opener, Rooney's Defensive Derby seemed shaken, and it showed when Michael Smith converted Matt Crooks cross from a quick counter attack from the prolific Millers. This makes it Smith's sixth goal in his last eight.

Seven Minutes on from Rotherham doubling their lead, substitute Ryan Giles scored the best goal of the game with a powerful solo run from the left wing into the box before shooting hard and low into the bottom corner making 3 for the Millers and securing a well deserved win.

Rotherham look towards the weekend now with a game against 11th placed Preston in the hope they can continue this good form and Derby look to play Barnsley in the hope of regaining their clean sheet run.
